I’m seriously crying I love every last one of you to death.
I think that in large part that is the appeal of Dramione to a lot of people: the fact that they make Draco change. Redemption, growth, change, Draco’s realization of how incredibly wrong he has been…these are all large components of the Dramione narrative. And people really, really love those kinds of stories.
One of the really weird things about the Harry Potter fandom is the idea that growth or any kind of change in a character means they are OOC. But that’s like…the point of writing characters most of the time. To see them go through change. Like, do you really think the Draco of Sorcerer’s Stone would have held back selling out Harry like the Draco in Deathly Hallows? That’s change.
It’s satisfying to take a bigot like Draco Malfoy and force him to go through self-actualization and make him learn how fucking wrong he is.
People who ship Draco/Hermione are trying way too hard to believe that Draco was actually a great guy who was only pretending to hate muggleborns.

Draco/Hermione was my original OTP and is my number one het OTP. The thing that gets me about Dramione haters is that they seem to think that there’s only ONE possible narrative for this ship when the reality is that, because of the very nature of WRITING and CREATIVITY, there are literally hundreds of different things we can do with this ship (and all ships really). But no, no, too dedicated to canon to deal with that.
I ship Dramione. I have no regrets. Get over it.

False. Draco was my favorite character before the movies ever came out. Some people are just drawn to villains/anti-heroes.
