I’ve been saying for years how he’s racist, misogynistic, homophobic, and his brand of humor offensive in all the wrong ways to be considered funny. Whenever I complained about his racism, his sexism, his homophobia (as a black, queer woman), I got shot down and ignored. No one wanted to hear my legitimate complaints.

And then he makes a joke about rape, and all the sudden, he’s a horrible guy.

Not when he was saying general misogynistic things that make his rape joke completely unsurprising to me.

Not when he was saying horribly racist things about anyone not white.

Not when he was saying horribly homophobic things that literally made me want to find him and punch him square in his face (while my black ass would have gone to jail for it and not praised on tumblr like some people).

He’s always been a shitty human being. And when I was pointing this out, no one fucking cared. No one wanted to hear me. He’s “funny.” He “targets everyone” so “nothing is off limits.”

Well, guess your line was at rape.

Which scares me that it took his jokes to get that for people to actually care.

It’s okay if he jokes about black people, Latin@s, Asians, and any other non-race group.

It’s okay if he makes comments about women that are gender role enforcing and misogynistic in general.

It’s okay when he makes jokes that continue to support a culture that ignores queer kids getting beat up.

No, all that is okay. Rape was the line. I can’t help but feel that is deeply rooted in racism and homophobia. Because I KNOW it’s straight, cis, white women who are shocked about this joke. Because his racism and homophobia didn’t matter to them, but this was over the top.

I’m just really pissed that now and only now people are getting what a douche bag he is.
