I refuse to read any fan fictions about a couple not written in the original books.  What Jo Rowling wrote is what happened, why would I read something that isn’t true?

Then how can you read any fanfiction? It didn’t happen in the books, it’s not true! Why are you reading it?

I’m pretty sure that is one of the main reasons fanfiction exists. So that fans can tell the stories while re-imagining the characters in different scenarios, which includes pairings. I think OP missed the entire point.

It’s astounding to me the amount of people who post confessions who don’t seem to understand WHY a majority of people write fanfiction; they seem to think that it should just be add-ons to what canon alread is. Which…just no.
